I've not been writing a lot of stuff about my latest flights. Not that they were uneventful, but I've been a little busy with other stuff. I will try to get back into the habit of documenting every flight, for learning purposes.

For now, I'll keep a short factual summary.

Description

This flight, I did a flight from EBZH around Diest, passing Aarschot and BUN (Bruno VOR), back to EBZH. Because I finally received my Radio License in the mail, I also contacted Brussels Information instead of just monitoring the frequency.

It was quite busy and almost always somebody was talking. So I waited for a moment and contacted them.

Here's how that went:

OO-G83: "Brussels Information, OO-G83"

Brussels Information: "OO-G83, Brussels Information"

OO-G83: "OO-G83, VFR Flight from EBZH to EBZH via Aarschot and Bruno, 2 miles west of Hasselt, 1200 ft, request flight information"

Brussels Information: "OO-G83, Brussels Information, QNH 1013"

OO-G83: "QNH 1013, OO-G83"

Brussels Information: "OO-G83, squawk 2000 IDENT"

OO-G83: "say again, OO-G83" (I was not expecting IDENT)

Brussels Information: "OO-G83, squawk 2000 IDENT"

OO-G83: "squawk 2000, OO-G83"

Brussels Information: "OO-G83, squawk IDENT"

OO-G83: "squawking IDENT" (I press the IDENT button)

Brussels Information: "OO-G83, Identified"

That was pretty much it, for the rest I was listening to make sure I wasn't being addressed with traffic information. But all I ended up saying after that was to request my frequency change to Hasselt Radio.

I should've already been squawking 2000 and I thought IDENT was more unusual than it actually was. And a little less SAY AGAIN would've been good.

Next Flight

I still need a few more hours for my checkride for passengers (30 solo hours). But I also need some challenges, after building up some routine with local flights.

Some thoughts

My instructor had suggested us taking a slightly more elaborate flight. Unfortunatly we didn't get to that anymore. It would've made some great memories I'm sure.
